Snegurochka, The Snow Maiden

I'm into literature mood lately, I like tragedy love story just like Romeo and Julie and Snegurochka, so I decided to post a Russian folklore titled 'Snegurochka'. The story just too lovely, too bad it's so hard to found the full version. So...yeah...

Indonesian Version:

Ada sebuah kisah tentang seorang gadis bernama Snegurochka. Berawal dari pasangan bernama Frost dan Spring. Frost adalah makhluk supernatural yang menyimbolkan musim dingin, dan Spring adalah simbol musim semi. Mereka memiliki anak gadis bernama Snegurochka. Orang-orang juga menyebutnya  Jeune Fille dans la Neige atau Gadis Salju. Sama seperti Frost dan Spring, dia bukanlah manusia. Dia adalah makhluk yang tahan dalam musim sedingin apa pun, dan bersinar ketika musim semi berlangsung.

Frost dan Spring menitipkan Snegurochka pada pasangan suami-istri yang tidak kunjung memiliki anak. Mereka membesarkan Snegurochka layaknya manusia biasa walaupun Snegurochka sadar dia tidak akan bisa sama seperti teman-teman sebayanya.

Suatu hari, Snegurochka berjalan-jalan di sebuah hutan dan bertemu seorang laki-laki. Seorang manusia biasa. Keduanya menghabiskan waktu bersama-sama, dan setelah beberapa hari yang indah dan menyenangkan, Snegurochka sadar dia telah jatuh cinta.

Itulah pertama kalinya Snegurochka merasa benar-benar bahagia walaupun lambat laun cinta itu malah semakin melemahkannya. Snegurochka, yang selalu merasa yakin tidak akan merasa lemah, akhirnya meleleh dan menghilang karena kehangatan cinta yang dia rasakan.

English Version:

There's a story about a girl named Snegurochka. Starting from a couple named Frost and Spring. Frost is a supernatural creature which symbolizes winter, and Spring is a symbol of spring. They have a daughter named Snegurochka. People also called her Jeune Fille dans la Neige or The Snow Maiden. Just as Frost and Spring, she is not a human. She is being detained in any cold season, and shine when the spring take place.

Frost and Spring leave Snegurochka to the couple who do not have children. They raised Snegurochka just like a normal human even Snegurochka aware that she will not be the same as her peers.

One day, Snegurochka take a walk in a forest and met a man. A common man. They spent time together, and after a few beautiful and fun days, Snegurochka realized she had fallen in love.

That was the first time Snegurochka feel truly happy even though the love gradually weaken her more further. Snegurochka, who always feel confident that she will not feel weak, eventually melt and disappear because of the warmth of the love that she feels.

I cannot see her, since the mist's white scarf

Obsecures the dark wood and the dull orange sky;

But she's waiting, I know, impatient and cold, half

Sobs struggling into her frosty sigh.

Why does she come so promptly,

when she must know

That she's only the nearer to the inevitable farewell;

The hill is steep, on the snow my steps are slow--

Why does she come, when she knows

what I have to tell?
